About the Author
Sue Clark Wortham is Professor Emerita of Early Childhood and Elementary Education at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to beginning a teaching career in higher education in 1979, she taught prekindergarten through second grade in public schools, worked as a school district administrator, and was a consultant at an education service center. She has authored numerous texts, including Early Childhood Curriculum: Developmental Bases for Learning and Teaching (5th ed., 2010), Pearson. She co-authored Play and Child Development (4th ed., 2012) with Joe Frost and Stuart Reifel, also published by Pearson. Organizational publications include Childhood 1892–2002 , published by the Association for Childhood Education International, and Playgrounds for Young Children: National Survey and Perspectives , co-authored with Joe Frost, published by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD).

 

In 1992, she served as a Fulbright Scholar in Chile. She was president of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) from 1995 to 1997. Since retirement, she has been very active in the development of the Global Guidelines for Early Childhood Education and Care that resulted from an international symposium held in Ruschlikon, Switzerland, in 1999. Subsequently, she has a leadership role in the development, validation, and implementation of the ACEI Global Guidelines Assessment adapted from the original guidelines. She edited Common Characteristics and Unique Qualities in Preschool Programs. Global Perspectives in Early Childhood Education for Springer in 2013 that reported on the use of the Global Guidelines Assessment in countries around the world.

 

Dr. Wortham has served as director of educational programs for World Children’s Relief and Volunteer Organization, a small nongovernmental organization (NGO), from 2001 to 2011. She engaged in training teachers and principals in Haiti, Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Sierra Leone.

 

Belinda J. Hardin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Specialized Education Services at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Dr. Hardin completed her Ph.D. in Early Childhood, Families, and Literacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to entering higher education in 2004, she was a public school kindergarten and special education teacher, a Head Start director, and the Director of the Special Projects Division at Chapel Hill Training-Outreach Project.

 

Her research includes cross-cultural studies investigating the effectiveness of services for young children with and without disabilities in the United States and other countries, particularly in Latin America. She is especially interested in measures of program quality with global applicability and how they are informed by sociocultural context. She served as the Co-Principal Investigator of three national studies in the United States also that investigated the reliability and validity of Learning Accomplishment Profile assessment instruments, including a dual language sample of 2099 children (half English speakers and a half Spanish speakers) to norm the Learning Accomplishment Profile-Diagnostic Edition.

 

Additionally, Dr. Hardin completed studies investigating the referral, evaluation, and placement of preschool children with disabilities who are English Language Learners and is currently developing a family report questionnaire on preschool language development in English and Spanish. Dr. Hardin has conducted research and professional development activities with professionals and Spanish-speaking families in North Carolina, Guatemala, and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. She was the Co-Principal Investigator of three international studies investigating the reliability and validity of the ACEI Global Guidelines Assessment in multiple countries across the world. Dr. Hardin has served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Childhood Education International and currently participates in two initiatives spearheaded by UNICEF to improve services for young children in inclusive early childhood settings worldwide.

I just finished reading Ungifted and Superungifted. A friend in book club recommended them. She is a former middle school teacher, and often recommends such books which are fitting for youth and adults both. The gifted and ungifted are not always recognizable, and the definition of gifted may vary from chapter to chapter. It's a great enjoyable read that allowable reader to look at things from citywide and still be unsure what is what in the gifted and ungifted department.

Supergifted picks up right where Ungifted leaves off, with Noah getting kicked out of the Academy and having to go to “regular” school with Donovan. The character development, especially of Noah, is fabulous. The way things are phrased is often very funny. My 10- and 12-year-old boys absolutely loved the book (and I enjoyed it, too). I highly recommend it to middle grade age kids. It makes a great family read-aloud, too!

We enjoyed "gifted" very much and were eager to write the sequel- unfortunately, it was so frustrating! Every element was so annoying- the plot, character development- one of the first books we ever put down halfway through and won't finish! We normally love Korman (Swindle, On the Run, the Macdonald Hall series, no more dead dogs, masterminds- all great!!) but this was just bad.

I really got a kick out of this sequel. Supergifted Noah's joyful adventures in finding what he's NOT good at are hilarious. It's worth reading just for the cheerleading scenes but there's much more.

Again, daughter loves this author! I think she has read close to every book of his!

In this sequel to "Ungifted," Donovan finds himself back at Hardcastle Middle School. But this time, Noah Youkilis, owner of the district's highest IQ, is also at Hardcastle. Noah is brilliant -- but has no common sense or physical abilities. Noah's view of how the real world works has come through a rather random look at YouTube.Donovan appoints himself Noah's protector, but circumstances seem to continually work against Donovan. When Donovan is (again) in the wrong place at the right time, his world is flipped upsidedown. And Donovan thinks there isn't anything he can do about it. Donovan seems doomed to live out his life moving from one disaster to another. Is there anything to be done?I loved this book. Gordon Korman gets into the middle school boy mind better than any author out there. Donovan a typical middle school boy in that he moves from incident to incident with no thought -- he spends his life reacting. I will be recommending this book a lot!

I didn't believe the other reviews at first but after reading a few chapters in the book I realized that I made a terrible mistake. The information provided is useful but the questions at the end of each chapter are not related to what was in the chapter at times. I've read other Sybex book and have even used them to get certified but this one seems thrown together and not much thought is put into the reading experience.

Great guide for an experienced tech. Very well written. A person with less that a years experience may need a course to go along with this. Using this to earn my MCSA.

Within the ASSESSMENT TEST there are multiple errors just in the FIRST HALF. Asking about updating windows 10 to windows 10 enterprise, has Windows 8.1 as the only answer(s). Questions from the first half are in the second half. I am only 32 pages in, what a joke for $56

Good introduction to the material, not in depth enough by itself. I read the book, took the quizzes, then subscribed to ItDVDs and did their course on the material and passed both exams.

This book must be a poorly edited version of something the author had previously written. Very disappointed in this book, wish I had sent it back.
