I read about half of the original book written in the 80's and had a difficult time moving past the verbiage. This edition is a relevant blend with some historical truths. I don't love everything in it, but there are great insights, especially for men growing up with a limited or without a father figure.

I was thoroughly impressed (not to mention frequently moved) by Galli's handling of Francis' story. Mark Galli manages to tell the story in a way that is fresh, engaging, and thought-provoking. This book (and all the books in this series) is a very attractive little volume with high-gloss pages and full-color artwork placed throughout. About the Author
Galli is the managing editor of Christianity Today magazine. He previously edited Christian History. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and for 10 years served as a Presbyterian pastor in parishes in Mexico City and California. He has written books on preaching, prayer and the challenges of pastoral ministry, and is a contributing writer to The Christian Millennial History Project. He is married with three children.
